Last summer I tried several spot from 250 - 450 feet. Some were horrible, 5 pots with a total of 35 shrimp. My biggest pull was 110. Obviously still haven't found the honey hole. Still trying to learn the areas they like. Lots of structure and rocks from what I hear but that isn't always the easiest to find either. I have 600 feet of lead line on each pot so this summer I am going to try some in 500 feet. |

Hey Dman, here's a link for you with very interesting information. http://www.sf.adfg.state.ak.us/region2/pdfpubs/pwsshrimp.pdf Probably the best info around. Shrimp is pretty much everywhere and I suppose it's up to us to get the best technique going. Changing locations to allow for repopulation, tides and currents, freshwater outfalls etc. Important also is to keep the pots from drifting about by weighting them down properly and leaving enough line in the water. Good luck. |
